Natural Greenery Succulent Wedding
I know I am by far the most biased person when it comes to my own wedding but it was everything I could ever have imagined and better still! I think the most important factor when planning a wedding is to stay true to you as a couple. I know that sounds like, well no duh… BUT I know so many brides that get swept up into the Pinterest perfect wedding and sticking to a theme they think will look good that it doesn’t have any elements that make your friends and family see you two in the details. This is my succulent wedding that included elements of natural greenery, and fun! All of our photos were taken by our lovely photographer Rylee (here is a link to her facebook page!)
First the bouquets-one of my favorite parts. My dream succulent wedding came true through the bouquets. They incorporated neutral green/blue succulents (Echeveria Allegra, Lola, and Lilicina) (find the video on me making them for the bouquet here), silver dollar eucalyptus, leather leaf filler, and white roses. We made these the day before the wedding. Each bridesmaid made their own and I feel that each of their personalities came through making each similar but unique to them.
My husband’s favorite succulents were the mother of thousands and ogre ears crassula. Therefore, I had to incorporate his favorites into his boutonniere, which looked much better before the receiving line but this is the only photo I have of it. I also included an echeveria lilicina. I added succulents wherever possible to create a true, succulent wedding.
I wore a hairpiece with an echeveria lilicina and leather leaf.
The rest of the groomsmen had a white rose, leatherleaf, and echeveria lilicina as their boutonniere.
Our moms wore corsages that had an echeveria lilicina and leather leaf glued onto these corsages bracelets from Amazon.
Dads wore boutonnieres with echeveria allegra and leather leaf.
During the ceremony we planted an olive tree, or should I call it a stick, haha.
For the rest of the decorations, we kept it very neutral. At the back of the aisle were two big ferns. We took handfuls of leather leaf and tied them to the rows that were reserved for the family during the ceremony.
At the head table, we had a lovely sign behind us with our last name made a good friend, here is a link to her website. We had artificial greenery hanging behind us and the boys had fun German mugs for their drink choice.
To decorate all the tables, we used leftover leather leaf from the bouquets and Russian olive branches that were cut from my parent’s yard.
Our fun element for the day was a scary tandem bike ride through our guests. We didn’t crash and it was an exciting way to start off our marriage.
Then the guests went in for drinks from our canoe and a popcorn bar.
Overall, I would recommend if you have to buy decor, make it something you would use in your new place together to decorate. Also once your wedding is here, whatever happens, is going to happen and you can’t stress about it. It poured rain during our reception which blessed us with the opportunity to pose under a rainbow.
What a beautiful wedding day! I love the fun touches like the canoe and the succulents – but I can’t imagine riding the bike in a gown!
Haha it was a little scary, I didn’t pedal, I just put my feet on the bar and held on tight to my dress. Thankfully my husband was skilled at not crashing us that day 🙂
